2010 Program Information

EFY is administered by Especially for Youth Programs, a department within BYU’s Division of Continuing Education. We provide optional summer programs that are not funded by the church. Although we support the seminary and institute programs, we cannot and should not attempt to substitute their profound and constant influence. Again, ours is an optional program.

We hope to be an asset to the Church, and we always want to be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. For this reason, we emphasize the scriptures in our teaching and strongly encourage seminary attendance. The curriculum in our classes should roughly parallel the curriculum taught by the seminaries.

We ask each teacher in our programs to conclude every class they teach with an explanation of how the subject taught helps youth come unto Christ. This should be simple in most classes, and a little more of an effort in others, but we believe it will have a powerful effect upon the youth if every teacher they listen to invites them to come unto Christ.

EFY

Especially for Youth (EFY) is a well-known, carefully balanced program of classes and activities just for seminary-age youth. It provides a unique opportunity for youth to develop lasting friendships, to grow spiritually, and to gain self-confidence in a caring, trusting, and accepting setting. Classes taught by EFY Faculty are an integral part of the week.

When teaching for EFY, you will teach on Tuesday and Wednesday of the week you are assigned. You will teach 8 times: 4 classes on Tuesday and 4 classes on Wednesday. Classes are held at 10:30, 11:30, 1:40 and 2:40. You will typically travel to your session assignment on Monday and return home Wednesday evening.
