Welcome to the 31st annual BYU Jazz Festival!
I would like to extend a personal invitation to you and your high school band to attend the 31st Annual BYU Jazz Festival to be held on the BYU campus in Provo, Utah, on Saturday, March 6, 2010. The festival attendance is open to all junior high and high school jazz ensembles and combos.
Sponsored by the BYU School of Music, this year’s BYU Jazz Festival promises to offer you and your students excellent educational opportunities in a jam-packed schedule of jazz performances, clinics, lectures, critiques, and presentations.
The BYU Jazz Festival evening performances begin on Tuesday, March 2 with the entertaining Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band, with Jazz Voices performing on Wednesday, March 3, and followed up with Synthesis and the BYU Jazz Festival Grand Concert on Friday, March 5, and Saturday, March 6.
On Thursday, March 4, the Turtle Island Quartet, winner of the 2006 and 2008 Grammy Award for Best Classical Crossover Album, will be performing in the de Jong Concert Hall.
Schools registered for the March 6 BYU Jazz Festival will receive complimentary tickets to a festival evening performance of their choice and discounted tickets to the Turtle Island Quartet performance.
I appreciate your support of jazz education. If you have any questions, please contact me at ronald_brough@byu.edu or call 801-422-3320. I look forward to your participation.
