Adult Contemporary Dance Summer Intensive
Featuring Carley Conder
July 12-23, 2010

Experience two weeks of dance immersion with Carley Conder.   This two-week workshop will feature a daily two-hour technique class and an afternoon session where students will work on the creative process through composition, improvisation, and technology.  There will be a showing of student work at the end of the workshop.

Participants who take the entire workshop will receive 3 hours of Dance 500R credit.  Those who wish to take just the technique class in the morning will receive 1 credit.  Those attending the three-hour afternoon session will receive 2 credits.

Carley Conder

Carley Conder is an Arizona-based dance artist. Founder and Director of CONDER/dance, a professional contemporary dance company in its seventh year, she actively creates and produces new work that explores the human condition through a kinetically charged movement vocabulary. CONDER/dance is a resident company at the Tempe Center for the Arts where they present a full season of performances including Breaking Ground, an annual curated festival celebrating choreographic innovations from around the country. Raised in Yuma, Arizona, Carley received a B.F.A. in Ballet and an M.F.A. in Modern Dance from the University of Utah.

Carley performed with Semaphor Danceworks, Scorpius Dance Theater, Garner–Gutierrez Dance, Mary Fitzgerald Dance, and Los Angeles based company Keith Johnson/Dancers. Her choreographic work has been commissioned by the University of California — Santa Barbara, Arizona State University, Brigham Young University, University of Utah, University of Texas — Pan American, Snow College, and Middle Tennesse University. She is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2000 Palm Desert Choreography Competition, 2006 Professional Winner of the Arizona Choreography Competition, and a 2006 Project Tier Awardee through Regional Dance America.

Carley’s work has been presented in New York (Wave Rising Festival), Utah (Snow College), California (Nannette Brodie Invitational), Alaska (Cama–i Dance Festival), Asia (BYU Dancers’ Company Tour) and throughout Arizona. Carley is currently a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University’s Herberger School of Dance and Adjunct Faculty at Scottsdale Community College. She and her husband Mike are the proud parents of Emma and Garrison.
